For those of you who don't know me, My name is Dan Labbadia, the owner of Jacked Javelin. I wanted to take a moment to share my story.
I began throwing Javelin at the age of 16, and did it as a hobby with no guidance throughout high school.
My senior year I threw 51m which was good enough to place at the State Opens, and qualify for Nationals.
I then began to throw at D2 powerhouse Southern Connecticut State University, where ultimate failed my very high expectations for myself.
My third meet of college I tore my UCL which sidelined me for the remainder of my freshman season, and entire sophomore year.
My junior year was canceled due to covid so going into my senior year I had only 3 competitions under my belt. I ended up throwing 59m that season and 60m the next year for an improvement of 9m in a total of 14 collegiate competitions, that were spread out over a 5 year span.
I used this 3 year hiatus to hire private coaches and learn about the process of javelin, among of key aspects like nutrition, mobility, and strength and conditioning.
My first year coaching at 23 years old one of my athletes won the D2 national championship, which proved to me my knowledge was far superior than that of which I showcased on the runway.
1 year later, I started Jacked Javelin which has a goal of making javelin education accessible to everyone in the world. Through free courses and content, across all platforms, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Podcasts, Mobile Apps for Apple & Android, and of course our Website.
Less than 1 year into starting Jacked Javelin I had two throwers (who I had began working with 3 years prior) PR by 10 and 7 meters each which put a total of 20m improvement during their college career, one of which set the United States College Record, D2 record, and won his second national championship, becoming the first ever D2 athlete to ever throw over 80m. (84.45m) which places him #6 all time in US at the time of me writing this.
If you would like to get an inside look into my training philosophy, and receive expert feedback and tips throughout your season this year, join my Velocity Program below, which allows you to have a new throwing program to follow each day, and receive daily technical analysis on your throws.
I hope you have found value from my content, and I hope to work with you very soon!
From, Dan
