Why The Block Is Overrated!

Everyone hears a coach telling them to hit a straight block and I am here to tell you why that does not matter

Too many throws coaches will tell their kids to be focusing on their block leg when in reality it's the last thing you should be worrying about

Things you should work on before worrying about your block:

  1. General throwing ability

  2. Rhythm & Relaxation in the approach

  3. Quick Back foot to Front Foot contact

Reason being is because the kinetic chain will still work even with a slight bend in the block, yes you want your center of mass to be behind the block, and have your block transfer your energy, but it doesn't need to be perfectly straight.

I see some kids reach out to me about their block when they are throwing 40-45m and can't even long toss a baseball 60 yards.

If that is your throwing capability, I guarantee you there are other areas to fix first and foremost.
